Kelsey, you are the co-owner and co-founder behind Our Plaace. Can you share where we can find Our Plaace and what you envisioned for your vacation rental property?
Our Plaace in Neskowin has been thoughtfully curated with my business partner and best friend, Jessica Smith. This was an idea we started dreaming up in the summer of 2020; we knew it couldn’t be just any property, but when we saw Our Plaace in Neskowin listed for sale last summer we acted quickly to turn our dreams into reality. Every design choice, playlist, scent, local recommendation and design aesthetic have been taken into account, so when you check in or host a special event, you are able to sit back, relax and live like a local at Our Plaace. The Mario Bellini-inspired boucle couch adds a touch of sophistication, while floor-to-ceiling windows invite guests to immerse themselves in panoramic ocean views. With a minimalist aesthetic and earthy tones inspired by the coastal landscape, Our Plaace exudes tranquility and relaxation. Accommodating up to 12 guests, Our Plaace is also available for photoshoots and elopements upon request. For those seeking adventure, a short stroll from the back porch leads to Proposal Rock and the Neskowin Ghost Forest. Neskowin is a quiet and secluded beach town on the Oregon Coast. What special connection do you have to this place?
I grew up exploring the Neskowin coastline every summer with my family. This beach, and truthfully this specific home, is very near and dear to my heart. It holds some of my fondest memories with my family from early childhood. My parents first started exploring the Neskowin area with my grandparents, before they started having kids, and have been staying at this specific property as far back as the mid-‘80’s when my grandparents first moved out to Oregon. I remember in my younger years riding my bike with my brothers to get Tillamook ice cream cones from the local market (Neskowin Trading Co.), learning how to play golf with my dad, uncles & grandpa, ordering the most amazing wood fired pizzas from Hawk Creek Cafe, learning how to play cribbage with my mom, going into Pacific City to pick up fresh seafood for big family dinners around the dining room table and even more recently surprising my dad for his 70th birthday with our entire family.Last summer, our family visited the area, and I decided to walk up the North Shore of Neskowin. I was incredibly shocked to see the “for sale” sign, as it had been listed only days prior. I called Jess immediately because I knew in that instant the opportunity to own a beachfront home, in such a unique location and one that will forever hold a special place in my family's heart would be something really special. Jess agreed and instantly fell in love with all the home had to offer as well as the unique charm of Neskowin… the rest is history!Since opening it up for renters again, we could not be more excited about the incredible response we have received from the community, from previous renters (some who have been renting out this home for 15+ yrs), as well as new renters-turned-supporters along the way. We’re so excited about the future plans we have for this special home.
