Arch Cape Loft

Architectural Marvel Unveiled: Experience Coastal Elegance at the Design-Driven Micro Hotel, Arch Cape Loft, on the Breathtaking Oregon Coast

Living just a short 1 ½ hours away from the Oregon Coast, which locals often refer to just as “the Coast,” many from Portland and Seattle call the outdoors their second home. Flannels, leggings, SOREL boots and a beanie belong to almost every household in the PNW.

The outdoors just belongs to life here. You can drive three hours east from Portland and find yourself in the high desert or walk around at one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon like the Painted Hills. Or you can head an hour and a half west and hike through lush, green spruce forest or spend a day at one of the many beaches, surfing or catching crabs.

And though, like every coastal area, our peak times are spring through fall, there are many beaches and hidden spots on Coastal Highway 101 that make the coast a year-round destination for locals and visitors. Visitors stay at campsites, hostels, cabins, bed and breakfasts, Airbnbs and amazingly design-driven micro-hotels like Arch Cape Loft.

Arch Cape is a quiet beach community just one block from the pristine Pacific. The Arch Cape Loft micro-hotel has 7 units, all with a Nest entry system, staggered private balconies with ocean views and fully equipped kitchens. You can step out in the morning and inhale the sea air, spend the day enjoying the fresh breeze on the private beach and cozy up around the freestanding fireplace after a day out beach hopping or exploring trails.

We talked with one of the owners, Vito Cerelli, about what makes Arch Cape Loft stand out from the crowd and the process of building this design-driven micro-hotel.

Rindi+Vito, you are the owners and founders behind Arch Cape Loft. Arch Cape Loft is a very unique building on the Oregon Coast. Can you share with us more about the Arch Cape Loft and when your ideas were born for Arch Cape Loft?

Vito grew up in construction and design and always wanted to design and build something of his own. Having lived in Arch Cape most of his life, he noticed a heavily-neglected commercial lot just blocks from his childhood home. After acquiring the lot, he spent two years crafting what he wanted the space to be and how it could be as special as his hometown: a design-driven and outdoors-inspired alternative to traditional hotels and dated rentals coastal visitors have long settled for.

Arch Cape Loft is a unique accommodation and a perfect alternative to a suite in a hotel. What do you think distinguishes you from other accommodations?

We focus on what we like when traveling: privacy, proximity to nature and comfortable, quality amenities. We’ve all been to hotels or short-term rentals that look nice, but when you get there, everything feels lackluster (think overpowering air fresheners, crummy mattresses and a shower you’re nervous about stepping into). We wanted to make sure our guests had comfortable, local, quality products just steps from the Oregon Coast’s beautiful rugged beach.

Arch Cape Loft is a hidden spot for city-based creatives and outdoor enthusiasts. What do you think city-based creatives and individuals seek when they book with you?

We’ve received numerous comments that our guests appreciate our attention to detail. Our hope is that we welcome guests with a fresh and inviting space, ready for relaxing and leaving room for creativity, whether that’s staying cozy indoors next to the fireplace or outdoors exploring the wild Oregon coast.

Your micro-hotel has individual studio units with design-driven details. What was your design approach and what were your priorities in the building process?

Compared to other Oregon beaches, Arch Cape feels private, like an uncovered gem. We wanted the Arch Cape Loft to mirror that. Vito designed staggered private balconies with ocean views in mind so our visitors would feel exclusive. We also focused on bringing in an efficient layout that incorporated the natural, comfortable elements of the coast. We are most proud of the custom milled cedar detailing that feels very coastal but has a beautiful design element to it. The entire build was done by Vito’s father, Bob Cerelli, and the dedication to his craft can be felt throughout the property.

Your interior design has a modern approach that complements the wood-cladded ceilings and creates a perfect contrast between a minimalist design and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. What was your inspiration behind the interior aesthetic and where do you find design inspiration?

Rindi loves Scandinavian design, full of clean lines and comfort in natural elements and neutral colors. The coast has so many “beachy” options complete with sand dollar art, so we wanted to design something that had a fresh, youthful feel, from the freestanding Jotul fireplace to an efficient modern kitchen, but we didn’t want to compromise on quality. Our inspiration could be found anywhere. There are the usual classic publications, but we also spent years spotting hidden inspirations from events, home design and social sharing.

Is Arch Cape Loft your full-time passion?

Design and construction are a big passion of ours. This was the first thing we created on our own; it’s our baby. We are passionate about our visitors' experience and hope to continue to create in all capacities.

What is your favorite place to reset?

Anywhere there’s a beach, sun and surf.

When someone is planning a visit at your hotel, what can they expect and what do you recommend throughout the stay to help them make the most of their getaway?

They can expect a completely unique experience. We are just one block from the pristine Pacific, but in the quiet residential beach community of Arch Cape. There is no other experience like it on the coast. Our recommendations are specific to the visitor. Some visitors want to go for an early morning beach walk, then nestle in with a good book. Others leave the room first thing to explore and don’t come back until the evening. We encourage our guests to reach out so we can help make personalized recommendations based on what they like. Our biggest recommendation is that guests try to stay more than one night, so you can truly feel the power of the Oregon Coast. That, and responsibly enjoy a fire on the beach – there's nothing like it.
If you are looking for a design-driven accommodation with ocean views that is nestled in a quiet beach community, head over to Arch Cape Loft and book your stay with them (but hurry, as they get booked pretty quick)
